Here’s a breakfast I eat most workday mornings. I try to create nutrient balance to my meals and breakfast is no exception. Protein is a morning must. It helps to silence those mid-morning donut cravings. My weekday AM protein comes from almond butter, plain or vanilla Greek yogurt and fat-free milk. Even one slice of Ezekiel bread adds 4 grams of protein. My breakfast protein goal is about 20 grams. I balance the protein with healthy fat from the nut butter and high fiber carbohydrates from the bread and berries. Some probiotics from yogurt and extra calcium and vitamin D from milk rounds out the nutrient punch. Quick tip: I had a bunch of strawberries the other day so I made a fast, fresh strawberry spread cooking the berries with a little bit of sugar and lemon juice. Excellent on top of plain yogurt.
