Luscious and Creamy Chocolate “Ice Cream” (without cream and without added sugar)

No cream?  No added sugar? I know what you’re thinking, no flavor, right? Wrong! This simple, easy, homemade “ice cream” will fool your taste buds into thinking you’re eating real ice cream. I tested this recipe on friends and family and they agreed, it’s a winner. The rich, creamy texture comes from the frozen bananas and peanut butter.

Ice Cream (without cream and added sugar)

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe, peeled, frozen bananas (slightly defrosted)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • Dash of salt

Directions

Place all of the ingredients into a food processor or blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. If you need to thin the mixture, use a little bit of milk or almond milk. As with  most of my recipes, the amount of each ingredient can be altered to meet your taste.

Note: For sweetness, use ripe (or overripe) bananas in this recipe. Whenever you have extra bananas and they’re getting too ripe, peel them and place them in a freezer bag and freeze. Use the frozen bananas to make smoothies, “ice cream”, and if defrosted, banana bread and muffins.
