Chocolate Peanut Butter “Ice Cream” (without cream and without added sugar)

I made this recipe again for a cooking class I’m teaching and was reminded how simple and yummy it is so I’m reminding you of this previous blog post! No cream and  no added sugar and it still tastes like ice cream.  How can that be? This simple, easy, homemade “nice cream” will fool your taste buds into thinking you’re eating real ice cream.  Frozen bananas gives this luscious dessert its rich,  creamy texture.  Enjoy this guilty pleasure without the guilt.





Chocolate Peanut Butter Nice Cream


  • 4 ripe, peeled, frozen bananas
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla


Break the bananas into smaller pieces. Place all of the ingredients into a food processor or blender.  Blend until smooth and creamy.

Note: If the mixture is too thick to blend, add a little bit of milk or almond milk. As with  most of my recipes, the amount of each ingredient can be altered to meet your taste.

Note: For sweetness, use ripe (or overripe) bananas in this recipe. Whenever you have extra bananas and they’re getting too ripe, peel them and place them in a freezer bag and freeze. Use the frozen bananas to make smoothies, “ice cream”, or eat them straight out of the bag for a sweet treat.
