These little sweet peppers are dynamite when they’re flash sauteed! The skins are tender with seeds almost non-existent so you can pop the whole thing in your mouth. If you have a garden, grow them. Just a few plants produce a peck of peppers (I’m not really sure what a peck is but the point being you get a lot of peppers). If you don’t have a garden, buy them the next time you see them at the market. All you’ll need to do is drizzle a little olive oil in a saute pan, add the peppers and sear them over medium-high heat. You’ll want them to be blistered on several sides which only takes about 5 minutes. Sprinkle with a little kosher salt for a light and tasty snack or appetizer. These peppers are sweet peppers but you may find an occasional pepper that packs a little heat.
Nutrition Note: A 1/2 cup of cooked shishito peppers packs over 150% of your days worth of vitamin C and 80% of your vitamin A.
